Singapore has a lot of large cities that are really developed. It’s one of the leading financial and tech centers in the world. Millions of visitors come to the country every year. It’s a place very rich in culture and is very diverse across the country. 

Tourism is so popular that special tourist events and festivals are frequently held to showcase the Singaporean culture. There are numerous landmarks and museums to discover more about the history. 

You can also find parks and reserves to enjoy the natural wonders. Even with the popularity of the country, there are still hidden gems worth visiting while here. 

Far East Square

Far East Square in Singapore is the result of the Chinese influence on the capital.

Singapore, the capital city, has a bulk of the major Singapore tourist attractions. This is an international city that is often the main destination for tourists.

A place to visit that will give you a unique experience is the Far East Square. Far East Square was developed for foreigners and has become a hot spot for expats living in Singapore.

Far East Square is a reflection of the Chinese influence on the country. It was initially a section of old historic buildings that have been renovated and transformed into a commercial shopping plaza.

The atmosphere of the square still highlights a blend of cultures, especially in the architecture seen throughout the square.

This square is a great place to go for tourists. There are lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants to check out. Resources and information are available to learn more about the history of the area. 

The daytime is very busy for this plaza because it’s located in the financial district. It’s also a place to find some great bars and nightlife scene. 

Fort Canning

Fort Canning is the site where many key events in Singaporean history took place.

Fort Canning is also located in the capital city of Singapore. This landmark is in a prominent location of the city and it's currently used as a popular destination for culture and entertainment. 

This historic fort sits strategically at the highest elevation in the city atop a hill. It was originally built for the protection of the area. It was then used as a military fort during times of war. 

Not many of the structures have been transformed to welcome tourists. There are many features of the fort including a reservoir, aquarium, and a large public park used for recreation.

Fort Canning serves as an entertainment venue that holds a lot of shows and concerts. It’s also the site of various festivals and celebrations. 

Original features can still be seen on the fort including gates, walls, and even cannons. Some newer structures have been built to accommodate its new purpose while older parts of the fort have been renovated.

Imbiah Lookout

Imbiah Lookout gives you a beautiful panoramic view over the Singapore skyline.

Sentosa Island is one of the larger sub-islands to the south of the main island. This island is actually another major destination for tourists. 

It’s known as an island resort. The entire island has been developed for tourism. You can find a large number of resorts and hotels here as well as numerous Singapore tourist attractions.

Imbiah Lookout is a group of Singapore tourist attractions all conveniently located in one area. This area often gets overshadowed by one of the most popular attractions in the country. Universal Studios Singapore is on Sentosa Island.

There are also rides and activities at Imbiah Lookout. It used to be a much larger area, but some of the attractions have been removed or replaced. It’s a wide range of things to do at this site.

There is an observation tower standing high above sea level. This tower gives you panoramic views over the entire island. You can stop by one of the few museums that showcase exhibits about Singapore’s culture and history. Or you can choose to relax and enjoy Singapore’s first 4-D theatre. 

Sri Arulmigu Murugan Temple

Sri Arulmigu Murugan Temple is a beautiful Hindu temple located in Jurong, near a beautiful garden.

Temples are another major group of Singapore tourist attractions. Many historical temples can be found all around the country. 

A variety of religions have existed here, so the temples have been built for their respective purposes. An impressive Hindu temple that is a must-see is the Sri Arulmigu Murugan Temple.

This temple is located in the city of Jurong. Jurong is in the western region of the country. The city is divided into various zones, each with their own unique attractions. 

A highlight for Jurong is the Chinese Garden. The Sri Arulmigu Murugan Temple is located right next to the garden.

It was built in dedication to the deity known as Murugan, who is the son of Shiva. Several figures and sculptures can be found in the temple depicting Murugan in addition to other deities represents. 

It’s currently an active temple that hosts daily prayer sessions for visitors. There are also other season activities that occur here for various holidays and celebrations.

Chek Jawa

Chek Jawa Wetlands offer huge diversity, both in flora and fauna.

A significant portion of Singapore is in constant development to make it a more modern country. There is a small island in the Northern region that still maintains its natural appearance. 

Pulau Ubin is one of the few untouched areas that still exists in Singapore. You can see signs of their traditional livelihood all throughout this island. 

Cycling is perhaps the most common activity here. Various biking routes wind around the country, passing by small villages and rural landscapes.

Chek Jawa is a tourist attraction on Pulau Ubin. It is an area known for its wildlife and plants. It has some of the most diverse offerings of ecosystems in the country. It includes a mix of environments from forests to shores to lagoons.

This is also where you can find a large coral reef just off of its shores. Other outdoor activities are popular here such as hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking. It is one of the Singapore tourist attractions that you visit when you want to get active and see the natural sights.


Singapore is a very popular place to visit. There are a lot of Singapore tourist attractions that highlight the diverse culture and history of the country. Many of the top Singapore tourist attractions get overcrowded with international guests that came specifically to see them. Plenty of other landmarks and attractions can be seen in different regions of Singapore. Next time you visit, try adding one of the lesser known attractions to your places to visit list.
