If you are traveling to Amsterdam for the very first time, then you will know what an exciting experience it can be. You may feel as though you are super excited about what lies ahead but at the same time, you may feel somewhat unsure about your trip as you’ve never traveled to the country before. If you want to find out more about your trip to Amsterdam or if you want to make sure that you are going to have the best vacation ever, then this is the guide for you.

Tulips Bloom in May

If you look up Amsterdam, you will soon see that it is home to plenty of tulips. This makes the scenery look stunning, to say the least, and it’s one of the many reasons why people make the trip every year. You should know however those tulips only bloom for a very short time and they draw a lot of crowds too. If you are keen on viewing these flowers and all of the glory that they have to offer, then it’s a good idea for you to go to the Keukenhof Gardens. This location is very easy to get to and it’s very affordable if you want to rent a bike and explore the nearby fields at the same time. If you want you can even take a boat ride through the canals too.

Cruise the Canals

The canals in Amsterdam date all the way back to the 17th century. This is when the swampland was drained so that a new urban area could be created. The canal itself is a World Heritage Site and the landscape is picturesque, to say the least.  One enjoyable way for you to explore would be for you to take a canal cruise. You can easily upgrade your experience and have a meal if you want. You need to keep your belongings handy though because it is very difficult to find lost objects. The boats get really busy and they are often quite cramped.

Stay Further Out

The Centrum is known for being the central area of Amsterdam. This is easily one of the most stunning neighborhoods in the city but at the same time, it’s also known for being the most touristy. If you want to get a true feel for Amsterdam then it may be wise for you to move away from the Ring. Some of the good areas you can stay in include Zuid and Noord. If you want to stay further away or take a trip out without being dragged down by your baggage then why not look into luggage storage in Amsterdam?

Local Markets

If you want to have a very good taste of Amsterdam and its traditionalism in general, then make sure that you visit some of the local markets. When you do, you will soon find that you can visit the local flower markets or you can visit one of the outdoor markets. There are places that sell tulips in the spring and in the winter there are Christmas fares too. It’s more than possible for you to ride a bike around locations such as this and you would be surprised at how much fun you could have by simply taking everything in.

Cycle in the Bike Lane

Renting a bike is a fantastic way for you to explore the city. You need to make sure that you try it at least once throughout your trip. It’s symbolic for you to do this while in Amsterdam and it is also a good way for you to explore the canal. You need to stick to the side of the road that is marked through. You also need to look out for the symbols and never ride on the main road or the footpaths. You should also not stop in the middle of the bike lane for photographs either because you don’t want to be blocking the way for the locals.

Cross the Ring

Amsterdam certainly has a lot to offer. If you are there for more than a day, then make sure that you try and sample some of the more rural living opportunities. You need to try and venture out so you can view windmills, open fields, and canals as well. You can also embark on a group tour if you want to really make the most out of your experience. Of course, it’s more than possible for you to make your experience even more fun if you try and meet with the locals, as they can easily show you the sights.
