Chefchaouen

the blue city in Morocco, bringing heaven down to earth in a truly magical way

Location:

Chefchaouen, Morocco

Duration:

Thursday, March 2, 2017

Personal highlights

  1. Chefchaouen: founded as a small fortress and grown through multicultural immigrants from Spaininfo-icon
  2. The Blue City: either to keep the mosquitos away or to bring heaven down to earth by Jewish immigrants
  3. How to get there: Marrakech to Chefchaoeun Tour via Sahara desert & Fes (amazing 6-day trip)
  4. Place Outa el Hammam: big central square with a beautiful Kasbah and Mosque, where all the life plays
  5. Tourism: this city is a true marvel, already being overrun by tourists and filled with dorky souvenir shops
  6. Souvenir: instead of buying something, I guarded a shop while the innkeeper was praying in the Mosque
