Camping on The Go: Everything You Need

Wednesday, June 30, 2021

Camping is one of the best ways to get out with friends and family. However, the camping adventure can be good or bad. It all narrows down to what you packed and what you did not. Every camper has different camping on the go list because some people will carry only the basics while others will load their vehicles with items that will make their stay most comfortable. However, various items are essential to everyone who goes camping. Below are some of the things you need to put on your camping checklist.

Campsite

You cannot camp without a campsite. Remember, most times you always set up the campsite on your own. The campsite will be your house for the days that you will be camping. To set up the campsite, you will need footprint stakes, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and a pillow for comfort. To raise and hold your tents in position, you will also need to carry tent pegs. Always remember to get tents from genuine sources like Lanshan 2 tent. This will help increase your comfort. Other than that, it would help if you had headlights and lighting sources like lanterns. Camping chairs will also be necessary because you will need a place to sit when surrounding the campfire. For those who own adventure-type vehicles and do not want to deal with the hassle of pitching a tent, there are some alternatives. For example, you could camp in the back of your car or even take it to the next level with a rooftop tent.

Camping tables or picnic tables can also be a plus when you need more comfort when eating or drinking. For the campfire, you can carry firewood, or at times, the campground management will provide the firewood for you. Ensure you communicate with them and know what you need to carry. Additionally, you might need batteries for charging the lanterns and lighters to help you light the campfire. To ensure you have everything, pack your stuff in a camping box as you mark your list.

Personal Items

At the campsite, you still need to put your hygiene and health in check. It gets so cold at night at the campsite, and that is why long-sleeved t-shirts, trousers, gloves, mittens, raincoats, boots, and warm jackets should be among your list of items. You will need to shower and change your clothes at the campsite, which calls for you to pack toiletries and extra clothes. The extra clothes can be shorts, short-sleeved t-shirts, socks, lightweight jackets, and sun hats. However, if you are camping for one night, you might skip showering, but that does not mean that you should not maintain cleanliness. If you do not want to shower at the campsite, you can carry body wipes and deodorants to maintain hygiene. Here are some of the personal items that you need to pack before camping:

  • Toilet paper
  • Towel
  • Bathing soap
  • Body wipes
  • Deodorant
  • Drying towel
  • Sandals
  • First aid kit
  • Swimsuit
  • Sunscreen
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Sunglasses

Camp Kitchen

Eating is essential, and you need to set up a kitchen at the campsite. This is the best option because buying food while camping might be expensive. Most campgrounds have water sources, but you do not want to risk it. Carrying water bottles with drinking water or a jerrican with emergency water is vital if you lack water for cooking. If you are camping for one night, you will need a few utensils for making a simple breakfast like teas and pancakes. When camping for two nights or more, your utensils list will be more because you will be cooking more meals. Here is a list of kitchen items that you need when planning to go camping:

  • Stove or portable gas cooker.
  • Fuel
  • Lighter
  • Cups
  • Plates
  • Cooking pots
  • Knives and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Bottle opener
  • Food in storage containers
  • Portable coffee maker
  • Biodegradable soap
  • Washing sponge
  • Kitchen basin

You may also need to carry trash cans in case your campground management does not provide them. Other items that may be useful but not essential are charcoal and grill if you want to roast meat at the campsite. Ensure you carry enough food and cooking ingredients because you do not want to get to the campsite and lack some necessary cooking ingredients.

When heading out for an adventure, you always want to create the best memories out of it. Do not spoil your camping experience by forgetting to carry one of the essential things. Make a checklist of the essential items and mark them one by one before heading out for camping.
